The movie “Einstein’s Big Idea” was excellent because it explained the process on how electromagnetic radiation was developed, and moreover, how it developed the atomic bomb. Everyone has heard of the most famous equation E=mc2, but how many people really understand the process and the depth behind it? The movie helped me understand each discovery such as energy, matter and light individually and how each was historically discovered and the process it took to get accepted. The true brilliance is how Einstein’s understanding and interpretation of the previous historical data had helped him not only understand, but brought science to the next level, which he soon developed the theory that energy is mass and vice-versa. The movie explains that curiosity leads to greatness, and I think without the dedication of a few physicists throughout the years, combatting “normal thinking” and thinking outside the box, we would not be at the position that we are at today. The movie was not only informative, but it gave me a visual sense of the series of events that lead to such a great discovery. One of the most fascinating points that the movie suggests is the creation of life. Not only did the discoveries develop nuclear fission, but in turn, may have solved the greatest question of all, how were we as humans created. The big bang theory has been a huge controversy, but I think poses as a strong conclusion to the question. Impossible to test at this current time, but very interesting to think about.
